A singing bowl is a traditional Tibetan metal bowl that creates a calming tone when you strike it with a wooden stick. It acts like an instrument to help you focus on being present. I use the singing bowl in teaching mindfulness because it is a gentle and effective means to invite children to find their inner calm and center themselves. In my practices, children always enjoy practicing with the singing bowl. They learn to be more mindful, learning to feel the sensation of stabilizing their bodies, to have good thoughts and say good wishes out loud, to feel the warmth of kind emotions, and most of all, to share the energy of love with the world.
